Historical map shows locations of significant events in Roanoke County, Virginia. This map, taken from page C-8 of The Roanoke Times on September 29, 1986, also includes county and military history.

The collection contains account books that provide names of customers and descriptions of items purchased from W. O. Goodwin & Company, a general mercantile store in Glenvar (Roanoke County), Virginia, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Maps are labeled 81 and 81-A. Map 81 shows major routes within Roanoke County, Virginia, with some inset maps showing road systems of smaller towns. It also contains mileage tabulation for the county. Map 81-A shows maps of subdivisions in the county.

Full title reads, "Map of Roanoke County, Virginia, compiled from actual surveys, land maps, and data furnished by the Appalachia Electric Power Co., Virginia State Highway Dept., Norfolk & Western R. R., Virginian Railway" Map contains table of distances, statistics of Roanoke City, Salem, Vinton, and Roanoke County, historical origin of the city, and legend.

This collection consists of applications for pension from Confederate veterans and/or their widows residing in Roanoke, VA. Although undated, these applications are likely from the 1910s-1930s.
